This is so incredibly informative. I truly believe my 8 yr old in in burnout, however the lack of understanding of PDA makes it difficult to get others to see the benefit of low demand. Thank you for sharing your experience!
Any time! Burnout is rough, I'm sorry your kiddo (and you) are in that space right now. The social judgement towards PDA children, their parents, and effective PDA parenting strategies is really challenging to navigate.
I highly recommend Emily Nagoski and Amelia Nagoski's book 'Burnout: The Secret to Unlocking the Stress Cycle' for more in-depth information—it's not PDA specific and it's geared towards adult women, but really digs into the stress cycle and the importance of completing it. Amelia is an autistic adult and has great videos on autistic burnout on YouTube as well.
Wow this is epic! Thanks! I’m going to save it and read it properly from a laptop rather than a phone
About a year and a half late to the party here but a really useful read - thank you!
